Marla Naidoo is the Relationship Manager for Corporate Engagements and Partnerships for Africa and the Middle East at the Rainforest Alliance, a global non-profit organization working to create a more sustainable world through better land use, livelihoods and responsible business practices. She stepped into this new role in February this year, bringing with her over 16 years of experience in the sustainability sector and a deep commitment to fostering partnerships that drive inclusive, regenerative and climate resilient agricultural systems.
Previously the Regional Director for Southern Africa, Marla has led Rainforest Alliance programs across 11 countries, working directly with farmers, cooperatives, companies and brands to embed sustainability into value chains. Her approach centers on empowering farmers and communities to thrive alongside nature and she has played a pivotal role in promoting sustainable coffee production and market access for producers in the Global South.
Marla holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture and Development from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. She is widely respected for her strategic leadership, cross-sectoral collaboration and ability to translate farmer realities into global corporate action.
At this year’s coffee conference, Marla will speak on the Rainforest Alliance’s 2030 Strategy for Growth in emerging markets of the Global South. She will also explore how this strategy aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 on intra Africa trade highlighting opportunities for sustainable coffee producers to thrive in regional and international markets.
